Hi Guys! I hope you’re all having a good Friday.
This week sees the start of my twice monthly Studio Journal series which will give you a glimpse at what has been going on in the studio, what I’ve been inspired by, what I’ve been loving in the world of sewing and anything else I’m excited about.
Events – Sewisfaction pop-up shop heads North!
Next Saturday 14th September sees Sheona of Sewisfaction bring her beautiful fabrics to the North East at the TeesCreatives studio. She’ll be there from 10am until 4pm.
I’ll be there on the day to lend a hand showing people in, serving cake and showcasing what we do at the TeesCreatives studio and talking about our upcoming workshops.
The TeesCreatives Studio is at 220 Linthorpe Road, Middlesbrough, TS1 3QW, only a 10-15 minute walk from the bus and train station.
Trains are easily accessible from Leeds / York / Sunderland /Newcastle. Plus there is plenty of town centre parking available.
I’m super excited to meet Sheona, a sewing superstar and the ultimate Girl Boss. If you are based in the North East or North Yorkshire please do join us!
This week has seen the start of two new month long sewing challenges. The first is #sewyoursefsustainable by The New Craft House which aims to get sewists thinking about what you are making and how you can be a bit more sustainable in your sewing practices.
The other is #seweverydayseptember by Sewisfaction which aims to get you sewing r thinking about sewing for a few minutes each day, perfect if you’ve lost your sew-jo.
One of my favourite prompts of the week was dream project, I didn’t need to think too long about that as I’ve been obsessing over The Vampires Wife’s green Veneration dress all week.
I put it to the polls on my Instagram stories and it was a 50:50 between those who voted “YAAAS” or “Eeeew No!” so a pretty divisive dream project.
I’m still searching for the perfect fabric to recreate it though; I think it will make the ultimate Christmas party dress.
What I’m making
This week I’ve been working on a toile of a new to me shirt pattern. If it all goes well I will be using a beautiful Liberty print cotton I’ve been saving for years to make my ‘real’ version.
I’ve also just cut out a pair of Yanta overalls in a beautiful blue / green coloured linen which I’m both excited about and slightly nervous about because I’m not sure if the style is really me.
I’ve also started to make a list of potential autumn projects which I will be sharing next time.
Thats all folks! Hope you have a great weekend
